While at CAA, Rachel stepped outside her assistant role to serve as a Producer for the first Los Angeles production of Eve Ensler’s The Vagina Monologues at The Wiltern Theatre, a bold and meaningful project that reflects her passion for storytelling and advocacy.

 

Outside of work, she is an avid hiker who loves exploring California’s trails, a traveler with an endless curiosity for new cultures, and an enthusiastic cook who enjoys hosting memorable dinners for friends and family.

Her eye for interior design and talent for event planning often spill into her work, where aesthetics and seamless execution matter as much as substance.

Biography

Rachel Zaslansky Sheer is the co-owner and co-founder of  Grapevine, a premier staffing firm that has become the go-to resource for high-profile households and executives seeking exceptional talent. With over two decades of experience, Rachel has carved out a niche in permanent placement of executive and personal assistants, estate managers, and household staff, raising the bar with her unmatched standards of recruiting and her deeply personalized approach.

 

Rachel is also the co-author of Straight From the Grapevine: How to Crush Your Job Search, written with her business partner of 20 years, Lori Zuker Briller. Together, they distilled two decades of front-line staffing experience, witnessing thousands of hires and all too many missteps, into a practical, no-nonsense guide to help job seekers avoid common pitfalls and land roles where they can truly thrive.

Her career is defined by her ability to understand the unspoken needs of both clients and candidates. Her intuitive matchmaking, rooted in years of working closely with entertainment industry power players, has resulted in countless long-term placements where trust, discretion, and synergy are paramount. Clients rely on her to not just fill roles, but to curate relationships that transform their professional and personal lives. Candidates trust her guidance to find not only jobs, but the right environments to thrive in. This level of insight and care has made her one of the most respected voices in her field.

Her expertise stems from a foundation in corporate recruiting, where she honed her ability to identify talent that excels under pressure and in highly dynamic environments. Over the years, she has cultivated deep relationships with top-tier candidates and influential decision makers, earning a reputation for being both discreet and strategically connected.

Before launching Grapevine, Rachel worked at Creative Artists Agency (CAA), where she served as Executive Assistant to Kevin Huvane, the renowned Managing Partner. Supporting one of the entertainment industry’s most influential figures provided Rachel with a front-row seat to Hollywood’s fast-paced inner workings, shaping her understanding of the demands placed on high-profile individuals and the kind of support they require to succeed. Prior to working with Huvane, she assisted two leading talent agents in the Motion Picture Department, gaining invaluable insight into the talent representation world.

 

Rachel graduated from the University of Maryland with a BS in Psychology and a concentration in Women’s Studies, a background that continues to inform her empathetic and people-focused approach to recruiting. Originally from Chappaqua, NY, she relocated to Los Angeles in 1998, where she has built not only a thriving business but a life she loves with her husband and their two children in Brentwood.

Today, Rachel continues to shape careers and transform households through Grapevine, while simultaneously mentoring the next generation of assistants and staffing professionals. Her ability to blend professionalism with a personal touch has solidified her legacy as not just a recruiter, but a trusted partner in building extraordinary teams.
